Work Is the Workout, and the Store Is the Community: Farm-Tested Performance Wear and a First Flagship

Two launches this week start from the same question, asked in two very different places: what happens when clothing is tested by the people who will actually live in it? One answer comes from a farm in Hudson, New York. The other comes from a shopfront in NoHo, New York City. Together, they point to a simple idea for winter dressing: build for the work, and build for the people.

### On and Sky High Goods framed farming as the original sport

On and Sky High Goods are readying their second collaborative collection, Hypebeast reported on November 2, 2026, after an SS26 debut. The Fall/Winter 2026 collection introduces the Cloud Low WP SHG, alongside a farmer-focused apparel range, under a Farm Strong campaign photographed by Jack Davison.

On paper, the partners do not look like an obvious match. Sky High Goods is the brand powering the food equity initiative Sky High Farm, a Hudson, New York non-profit centred on cultivating a more just food system. On is a Swiss label making premium footwear, apparel, and accessories for running, outdoor treks, tennis, and more. The campaign bridges them with one framing: farming as the original sport.

That framing shaped the products, not just the photographs. Lucy Delacherois-Day, On's Global Senior Director of Product, said the partners brought the collaboration into performance workwear, looking at the physical demands of farming through On's understanding of movement. She said they developed and field-tested the collection with real farmers from Sky High Farm's community, so that everyday utility is central to it. Daphne Seybold, Co-CEO and CMO of Sky High Goods, added that farmer feedback heavily shaped the final design choices, so the collection actively addresses the functional and utilitarian demands of the farmer as they move through their day.

The centrepiece is the Cloud Low WP SHG, an easy-to-wear moc-style shoe drawing from the foundation of the Cloud Hi, with a waterproof construction and Missiongrip outsole technology for stability. It is built to withstand wet, uneven farm grounds, and arrives in two dark monochromatic colorways, all-black and Date/Torchwood, so getting them dirty is part of the point rather than a problem. The outsole also carries Sky High Goods' strawberry and moon icons, bringing the brand's visual identity into a functional part of the shoe.

The apparel range follows the same logic. It comprises durable outerwear, relaxed workwear styles, and breathable base layers, built for ease of movement and longevity. Pieces like the vest, pants, and hoodie are built with hefty textiles and utility pockets for a sturdy foundation. Other pieces carry a bold Sky High Farm print, including a pair of long johns, a waffle tee, and a balaclava, and a Farming graphic tee states the Farm Strong message in writing.

Seybold summed up the idea in a line worth keeping: "Farming is the original workout." She described farming as requiring tremendous strength, coordination, and mental fortitude, the precision of an engineer and the stamina to see through a day of taxing physical labor, and called the collection an acknowledgement of farmers as the ultimate athletes. Every purchase from Sky High Goods furthers its original mission, and each collaboration lets it reach a broader audience.

The On x Sky High Goods Fall/Winter 2026 collection launches on November 5, 2026, in stores and online at on.com and skyhighfarmgoods.com, and through select retail partners.

Read that as a design lesson. A workwear piece earns trust the same way a running shoe does: it is tested where it will be used, by the people who will use it, in wet and uneven conditions, with pockets where they are actually needed. Utility is not a style detail here. It is the whole brief.

### Oner Active turned an online community into its first real room

Oner Active will launch its debut store on November 7 in NoHo, New York City, Drapers reported on October 13, 2026. The 4,700 square foot store, at 0 Bond Street, will be followed by a second opening in Los Angeles, due in 2027, with UK stores also in its sights.

The move matters because of where the brand started. Oner Active was launched in 2020 by Krissy Cela, and has operated as an online-only business until now. The New York store brings a digital-first brand into a physical space for the first time, in its largest market, the United States, followed by the UK.

The store will sell Oner's SoftMotion range, its body-contouring EnhanceLift range, and its lightweight performance AirMove fabric range, alongside new launches and limited-edition drops. The first of those drops is NY Seen, an exclusive in-store-only lifestyle capsule designed in homage to New York City. The SoftMotion collection, which launched in November 2024, generated more than $5 million during its first six days of trading, according to TheIndustry.fashion.

The space itself is designed around what Oner calls its ethos of being strong, soft, sexy, and empowered. Design details include custom-built mannequins representing three different body types, a bespoke photobooth, and a signature store scent created in Florence, Italy by perfumer Sileno Cheloni. The changing rooms have been designed with social media in mind, with the distance between the mirror, door, and lighting calculated to create what Drapers describes as the ultimate mirror-selfie moment.

Cela put the thinking plainly: "I'm so excited to continue opening Oner stores across the US and UK, creating truly community-first spaces as we go." She added that New York has always felt like a city that represents everything the brand stands for, and that creating a physical space where people can experience Oner in person, connect with one another, and be part of what the brand is building is incredibly special.

The expansion follows a record first half of 2026, when the company generated 114 million euros in gross revenue, up 94 percent year on year, according to TheIndustry.fashion.

The lesson here is different from a simple store opening. An online brand can sell a set without ever meeting its customer. A first store has to do something else: give that community a room, with mannequins that look like more than one body, a photo moment, and a capsule you can only get by showing up. The product gets the customer in the door. The room is what makes them stay.

### What this means for how we dress this winter

Put the two launches together and a pattern shows up. Winter clothing this year is being judged on proof, not promises. One collection proves itself on a farm, tested by farmers, in waterproof shoes and pocket-heavy layers. The other proves itself in a room, where a community that only existed online can finally try the clothes on together.

That is also where smaller brands have room. A big launch can field-test with a farming community or sign a lease on Bond Street. A smaller brand only has to serve its own people well: consistent fits, honest prices, and pieces that hold up in a real rotation, from a morning workout to an evening out, from a workday to a lounge day.

At Rekreational Apparel, that is the lane we build for: slides, shorts, hoodies, and headgear made for everyday movement, not just gym time. Our RA Basic Camo hoodie is a good example of the idea in this week's news. It is a straightforward, wearable layer that fits the sturdy, utility-first mood of the farmwear collection, and it pairs with joggers and slides for a full everyday set, while a denim jacket over the top gives the same set a sharper, street-ready finish for the walk into town.

The lesson from this week is simple. Dress for the work you actually do, and for the people you actually do it with. A layer that survives a real day, plus a community that can see itself in the clothes, will carry further than either a slogan or a storefront on its own.
